Who we are...

We are a non-profit humanitarian, cultural and philosophical association promoting philosophy around the world. We are presently in more than 50 countries, with thousands of members and friends, using 18 idioms and representing a diverse cultural heritage, ethnic origins and beliefs as a living example of coexistence and understanding. We are an entirely volunteer based organization, and our objective is to express ourselves through a practical and active philosophy, not only intellectual and theoretical.

Where we came from...

New Acropolis was born on 1957 in Buenos Aires, Argentina as professor’s Jorge Ángel Livraga dream to create a group of young idealists around an Ideal of fraternity, based on the rescue of philosophical and atemporal values of cultures of the East and West.In his eagerness to revitalize those ideas, professor Livraga succeeded to adapt ancient teachings to our modern times, and all this in a frame independent from any political, religious or financial interests.This project brought together young people, students and personalities of the artistic and cultural world, forming an exciting and enriching movement for all. Since then, thousands of people in dozens of countries have been united to this dream of learning, working and living for a new and better world.

Where we are going...

Our suggestions can be summed in three ideas that at the same time are the principles of the organization:
1.  A Fraternity among human beings: To try and find the unity beyond the differences and respect for the diverse identities and traditions, feeling at the same time citizens of the world.

 2. Coexistence among cultures: We are searching to relate all fields of creativity and thought. This integration makes compatible and complementary what at the beginning seemed as opposing. It creates harmony among people, ideas and new and different feelings, in a more rich and open social group.

3. Development of human capacities: We are part of Nature. We have undiscovered potential and our possibilities for development are almost infinite.

We firmly believe that these ideas can improve our society; the only thing we need is people ready to live according to them.  

New Acropolis in South Africa

The organization in South Africa is doing its first steps. We are located in Ferndale, Randburg, Johannesburg. Our mission in this country is to educate people to find the unity inside the diversity and through practical philosophy, to build a bridge between different cultures, social conditions and all differences that make us forget that we are all human beings.
