Freedom is a concept that has always preoccupied mankind. We all want to be free but free from what? Do we really know what kind of freedom we are look for or how we can reach that freedom?

We are going to use philosophy to investigate and to understand freedom with an emphasis on inner freedom, which is more important and more valuable than the physical freedom that is more popular today. Inner freedom is the freedom of our mind, emotions, and actions. What are those forces, which prevent us from finding inner freedom? What are the factors, which prevent our freethinking, free feeling and free action?

What is the connection between philosophy and nature?

If we understand philosophy in its widest possible sense as the love of wisdom, we must include in that wisdom all the laws of nature. So we cannot disregard those laws; what we should do is get to know them, try to understand them deeply. This desire to understand things deeply implies love - not love as an emotional reaction, but love as understanding, as acceptance of those laws and, above all, as a way of working with those laws.

The term "progress" comes from the Latin word "progressus" that signifies simply the action of moving forward. It is mere illusion of sentiments, drunkenness of hope. It is to suppose that everything that moves forward is synonym with improvement, happiness and goodness.

The arithmetic progression of 1,2,3,4 etc does not show that two is better than one. If we humanise the process, it is clear that everything depends on quality rather than numbers. Only a stupid person prefers two slaps to one, and a fool one would prefer one benefit to two when the nature of both is similar.

When we think about language as a mean of communication between one person to another we will probably think of it as verbal ability to express our thoughts and feelings, transmitting our inner state to others. However, we notice that there are other means of communication apart from the verbal; we express our self through art, through writing, painting, dancing, playing music, etc. Our complete body is mirroring the thoughts and feelings, our inner state of mind and health. We talk of body language where we can learn to ‘read’ other people or transmit a message to someone else. Many traditional manners refer to different parts of the human body as a reflection to its holistic psycho-somatic condition. We ‘read’ through the eye, hand, feet, face, standing posture, blood, urine and some more gentle planes related to the energetic and emotional bodies.
